Dr. John Ivy

Dr. John Ivy has served as Department Chair of Kinesiology & Health Education for the past 13 years at The University of Texas, where he has been a professor since 1982.

As an exercise physiologist, he has spent time running UT’s Exercise Physiology, Metabolism, and Research lab, studying the acute and chronic effects of exercise on muscle metabolism, with special emphasis on carbohydrate regulation and nutrient timing.

A world-renowned expert on the role of nutrition and exercise performance, he has published over 160 research papers and review articles, co-authored and published three books, and led research initiatives for EAS, Accelerade, PureSport, Wheaties and other major consumer brands.
